The Romantics, a documentary series from Yash Raj Films, offers many behind-the-scenes details about the studio and the movies produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra. The series, which debuted on Netflix recently, is noteworthy because it includes an extremely rare interview with Aditya Chopra. We can hear the YRF head discuss the beloved and successful 1994 movie Hum Aapke Hain Koun in his interviews that are featured in the web series. Sooraj Barjatya directed this movie. Even Sooraj makes an appearance in the episodes to discuss Aditya and the reasons why he is so deserving of respect.

Sooraj Barjatya began by recalling his first encounter with Aditya Chopra, which took place at the Maine Pyar Kiya screening when the actor was barely 17 years old and was seen waiting outside the theatre. Barjatya admitted that he was ignorant of the fact that the small kid was Yash Chopra's son at the time. Sooraj then proceeded to create Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Even though this movie is currently one of many people's top favourites, the film industry had a very unpleasant reaction when it first came out. Sooraj Barjatya revealed, "We had a show (for the industry) at Liberty. That show was a disaster!" When he returned disheartened from the premiere he got a call from Aditya Chopra. Sooraj said, “Adi told me, ‘Sooraj, it's a damn good film. Don't worry’.” When Sooraj told him to see how the whole industry has reacted, Aditya maintained that he shouldn’t take stress. However, he gave a suggestion: "Cut two and a half songs from the film and it will fly!"

As a tribute to Yash Chopra, who is known as the "Father of Romance" in India due to his classic romantic comedies like Silsila, Lamhe, Kabhi Kabhie, Veer-Zaara, Dil To Pagal Hai, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, etc., the streaming behemoth launched The Romantics worldwide on February 14, 2023. Smriti Mundhra, who previously helmed Indian Matchmaking and the Never Have I Ever series for Netflix, is the director of The Romantics. The Romantics, a documentary series from the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated director, will kick off Netflix's unscripted slate in India in 2023.
